Chief - a Really big dog

We're not pet experts but we are pet owners.

My dog is called Chief, he's a 55kg Bernese Mountain Dog who is absolutely petrified of fireworks. When he shakes in fear, you can feel it through the floorboards, so for any pet owners who suffer through fireworks season I feel your pain.

By having one big event at a known time, it minimises the constant attritional nature of not knowing when the next bang will arrive. I know it doesn't fix it but it can reduce the ongoing challenge of days and nights of noise.

Chief will be spending the nights of the 5th and 8th November at his Grandma's in the country to escape the worst of it but I appreciate not everyone has that option open to them.

Suggestions

Our vet suggested this site at Dogs Trust to help Chief with anxiety. It may help your dog as well. There is a longer term training plan as well as some quick fixes for this firework season. Best of all, its free!
