Getting to the Fireworks

Downend Round Table Fireworks is one of the biggest local events, attracting over 10,000 visitors each year. To make your evening stress-free, we strongly recommend walking rather than driving – it’s much quicker, and you’ll avoid the traffic queues.

🚶 Walking is strongly recommended

With limited parking around the site and large numbers of people attending, we strongly recommend walking to the fireworks wherever possible.

If you live locally, please leave the car at home. It will make your journey easier and help reduce congestion around the event.

🎟️ All entrances accept e-tickets only

Have your ticket ready on your phone before you reach the entrance and follow the directions from our marshals when you arrive. They may direct you to a different gate if another entrance is quieter.

🚪 Walking?  Right, then choose your gate:

Gate 1 — Westerleigh Road

Entry & Exit

Gate 3 — Sutherland Avenue

Entry & Exit
By the New Pavilion

Gate 4 — Kimberley Close

Entry & Exit

Gate 2 — Farm Road Footpath

Exit only

Gate 5 — Sutherland Avenue Footpath

Exit only

💡 Our top tip: avoid Gate 1 if you can

Gate 1 is usually the busiest entrance.

If you are coming from Downend, Bromley Heath, Emersons Green or Blackhorse, Gate 3 or Gate 4 will usually get you onto the site much quicker.

📍 Which gate should I use?

From Mangotsfield → Gate 1

Walk along Peache Road towards the double mini-roundabouts with Westerleigh Road. Turn right onto Westerleigh Road and the entrance is approximately 100 metres along on the left.

From Downend High Street / Cleeve Hill → Gate 3

Walk along Badminton Road, past Mezze at the Green Dragon, then turn right into Cleeve Lodge Road. Take the immediate left into Farm Road and continue until it becomes Sutherland Avenue.

Gate 3 is usually much quicker than Gate 1.

From Bromley Heath → Gate 3

Head towards Westbourne Road and follow the signs for Boscombe Crescent. Continue until you reach Sutherland Avenue, near the Badminton Road end.

Follow Sutherland Avenue for approximately 600 metres. Gate 3 will be on your left.

From Emersons Green / Blackhorse → Gate 4

Follow Boscombe Crescent towards Kimberley Avenue. The entrance is signposted along the lane between St Augustine's and the all-weather playing pitches.

Gate 4 is usually much quieter than Gate 1.

🚗 Coming by car?

Please avoid driving if you can.

There is very limited parking around the event, and roads close to the site become extremely busy before and after the fireworks.

If you do need to drive, please allow plenty of extra time and do not park across residents' driveways, on grass verges or where you could obstruct emergency access.

🚶 Our recommendation

Walk if you can. Use Gate 3 or Gate 4 where possible. Have your e-ticket ready. Follow our marshals' directions.

That will help everyone get in safely and quickly.

Parking

Parking Enforcement is in place, so please don't get caught out!

In the interest of public safety; PLEASE PARK LEGALLY AND RESPONSIBLY AT ALL TIMES:

  • Please do not park in any area highlighted in RED on the below map
  • Please do not park on pavements
  • Please do not obstruct private driveways
  • Ensure that Emergency Vehicle access is maintained at all times
  • Please do not park in coned off areas.

For SAT NAV’s please head toward: Westerleigh Rd, Downend, Bristol, BS16 6AH

Public Transport

If you don’t fancy walking, a number of bus routes pass by or in close proximity to the event. Journey planner is available here : https://journeyplanner.travelwest.info/

Disabled Parking

Due to the number of members of the public accessing the site and limited space there is no disabled parking available on-site.  Our recommended drop off point would be on the road outside of the event along Sutherland Avenue shown as Gate 3 in the map above.  There will be no access to the Pavillion car park.

Please refer to our access statement for more information https://downendrt.co.uk/access-statement
